AsPacker is a tool that aids the designer integrate bare die or chips into their
projects. AsPacker automates the process eliminating errors that can be made during
hand editing a package layout. The Wire Bond Explorer allows the packaging engineer
to parametrically design the fan out pattern for a die. This tool also has a 3D Viewer
allowing the designer to see the design from all angles. Cross referencing between
the netlist and die is also available. Outputs in clued DXF format as well as an
enhanced LIQ format that is currently accepted by PADS & EDWinNET.
Wire bonding is the method of making interconnections between an integrated circuit
(IC) or other semiconductor device and its packaging during semiconductor device
fabrication.
EDWinNET can now fabricate multichip modules from AsPacker
Importing LIQ Files
The LIQ file contains all the information to create a database in AsPacker as well
as all the geometries needed when importing into a PCB layout package. AsPacker is
a tool to explore and develop bare Die wirebond solutions for PCBs, MCMs, Hybrids
and Packages.
EDWinNET can import LIQ Files from AsPacker.
To import LIQ Files ,select Library Editor from
Project Explorer|Package Editor|File
|Import LIQ Files.
By selecting 'Import LIQ Files' a dialog box will pop up as shown below
As proceeds we can select LIQ format files from EDWinNET Library.
Click on OK
LIQ Files can be viewed in EDWinNET as shown below
Save the Package from File Menu|Save Package.
Open Part Editor ,drag the created package from Library Explorer to the package column.
Save this Special Part without Symbol in Symbol Column from
Menu File |Save Part
Creating PCB Layout
Open 'Edit PCB Layout' from PCB layout.
Browse the Created Part to the Layout Editor from Tools|Components|Open Part
Library|Browser to add components.
Design a pcb layout using SMD components and Save the Project
Fabricating PCB
Open 'Fabrication Manager ' from PCB Layout.
Allows setting the various parameters and optioning for generating Gerber, NC Drill,
PCB Assembly outputs and Bare Board Testing output data. To invoke the dialog select
the menu Fabrication | Setup.
Click on Gerber Artworks on the left hand side of the window. This window allows
to set the layers to define Gerber Artworks. Click SET TO USED button and then click
the EXECUTE button to generate the Gerber files for these layers.
A Gerber Output window pops up showing the filenames of the positive and negative
plots corresponding to the component layer to be processed. Click EXECUTE. A list of apertures (*.ALS) and corresponding report file (*.GJR) is generated. Click on
Close.
Click on Close after executing.
