Changing several parts at once

Postby Bengt » Sun Feb 07, 2010 2:04 am

I want to change all resistors from one type to another. In this case 0603 pckage to 0402 package. There is no fast method to do this.

Yes, I have encountered that problem as well, plus the fact that you cant re-name components in the schematic editor

As EDWinXP has an integrated structure, if a package is changed in the Layout for a particular component, the corresponding schematic symbol will be also changed in the schematic and thereby the Part is changed. Hence to avoid the anomaly, you can create two parts for the same component with two different packages. hence you can use the required component where ever necessary.

The name of the component has to be changed in the Library Editor. You can change the Name description in the Schematic Editor.

Yes, but if I want to replace all parts of one type to another? Just changing the package is not so logical, I agree to that.

Another problem with changing a part is that if you do that, the packing will be redone, replacing any changes you may have done to the part name in schematic for example. I think the value is kept.
